The ceiling support/firestop is the most common support.  It can be used on any floor level.  It is the perfect choice when a structure hides the venting system.  Simply screw the support to the framed joist with four #8 x 1½" wood screws or use four spiral nails, 2" long.  The ceiling support/firestop acts as a firestop and a support when installed from below.  It can also be installed above the joists; however an additional firestop is required from below in this case.
